Every nation has its own unique style of dress. With the widespread popularization and application, some unique dresses has become part of the national culture and derived a global fashion.
In Indonesia, Malaysia and the Arabian Peninsula in Southeast Asia, as well as in East Africa and other islands in the Pacific, there is a popular ancient traditional dress called SARONG. It was found earliest in the ancient Malay traditional clothing in Southeast Asian countries. Today, in coastal area around the world, you will see them being worn by holidaymakers, strolling on the beach or sunbathing as a must for holiday. The centuries-old styles also appear on the catwalks of major brands every season.

Batik sarong in Southeast Asia is made of rectangular cloth wrapped in a string skirt of various fabrics. Usually there are woven plaid cloth, batik, and a string string (” warp ikats” is similar to tie-dye, which is used to tie and dye patterns with warp threads), and a gold brocade (Songket), which is a Malay textile series made of silk or cotton by hand. Decorated with gold or silver lines) and silk and other textiles, about 1 meter wide, 2.2 meters long.
In Malaysia, men wear checkered sarong, which is also called “kain pelikat” when they are praying in public. Malaysian women usually wear them every day. These are usually called as “batik sarong”. There are flowers, dotted patterns and colorful features on the fabric.
Sarongs are also worn by Arab fishermen in the Persian Gulf, Red Sea and Indian Ocean. In traditional Sri Lankan culture, sarong is worn by men of lower class status, and for men of higher status, it is mostly used as home clothes or pajamas.
Due to its universal appeal and convenience of movement, batik sarong can be made into a popular side slit skirt, or a modern wrap dress or halter dress, or it can also be used as a scarf. And one of the most attractive aspects of a city is the visual sense of summer’s brilliance, even when the weather is cloudy. This is an ideal and simple way to enjoy the “vacation” feeling without having to go to the beach. In the past two years, some boutique brands have already developed fashion sarong and dress for urban daily wear.
